Respect in Sport Parent Course - mandatory for all registrants

The Durham Region Soccer Association is proud to be taking a leadership role in protecting the best interests of kids, and all those involved in our game, by introducing the Respect in Sport Parent Program to our organization. As the first District Association within the Ontario Soccer Association to be taking this important step, following the lead of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association and other sports organizations in Ontario Durham Region Soccer Association is making the Respect in Sport Parent Program mandatory for one parent or guardian of each player for 2017 to complete the program.  The program is transferrable from hockey or any other sport it was completed for, and covers the entire family.  Please help us to help you make soccer safe and fun for all participants.

The Respect in Sport Parent Program is a one-hour online module for parents/guardians, reinforcing their role in their child’s activities, encouraging positive sport behaviours and providing insight into the various roles other individuals play, such as coaches and officials. This program empowers parents to ensure the safety of their children, encourage positive and effective communication, and to enhance a child’s overall enjoyment of soccer. The online course costs $12 and is transferable to other sports involved in Respect in Sport.

One parent/guardian from a family must take this course before their child(ren) will be permitted to play during the 2018 Outdoor Soccer Season.

IF you have already taken the course for another organization, the OMHA for example, you do not need to take the course again. You just need to log in to your profile and attach Scugog Soccer Association as a league in your profile.

IF you have not taken the course, please do so as soon as possible at https://osaparent.respectgroupinc.com/

Please click here for an information pamphlet.

Should you have any questions regarding this, please contact us at info@scugogsoccer.ca or 905.985.7553.

Ontario Soccer's Long Term Player Development Strategy

Important changes are coming to Soccer across Ontario. These changes will affect the way Soccer is played here in Scugog.

The goal is for each child to have as many touches on the ball as possible. Each child has a ball and they learn the fundamental, basic skills of soccer.

A higher importance is placed on skill development than winning.

For more information on the Long Term Player Development Strategy please click here.
